Robocup 2025 Salvador - Day 3
With the third day, the games began: the Drop-In Games in the morning and the first half of the group stage in the afternoon. From today on, the hall is also open to visitors, so numerous spectators, mostly school classes, were present at all games. In the Drop-In Games, mixed teams compete – each team provides one robot, and it is played 5 against 5. Points are awarded based on presence on the field at the time of a goal and the number of goals scored. As usual, there is little team coordination here, since all robots act independently and try to score goals at the same time – which often leads to chaotic game situations. Our robots showed good stability and robustness. The result of the Drop-In Games determines the seeding in the following group stage. We are very happy with 8th place in the midfield. In these games, 2 teams used their new hardware (Booster Robotics), and stood out through an aggressive style of play. This caused considerable damage to the hardware of some other teams. Our robot in the picture is the red 5.
Based on the ranking of the Drop-In Games, we were placed in a group with Boosted HTWK (Germany, 1st place Drop-In Games) and UTRA (Canada, 9th place Drop-In Games). The first group game against UTRA took place right after the lunch break, while the game against Boosted HTWK was scheduled for the next day. The videos of all games can be found on our YouTube channel. For the game against UTRA, we put three of our four robots on the field, while UTRA competed with one robot. Despite many ball contacts, a walker that is significantly improved compared to last year, and new, more effective kick and stand-up animations, we unfortunately did not manage to score a goal. It became clear that our robots still have difficulty aligning precisely to the ball. We therefore used the rest of the day for troubleshooting and for repairing individual hardware components. The evening ended with a technical exchange with team PUMAS (Mexico) – one of the two teams that did not pass the Robot Inspection – and a shared pizza dinner with the NUbots (Australia).
